Attendance Policy: Pi Chapter

Purpose

The Following rules are established to provide the chapter with guidelines for conduct and procedures in the area of absenteeism from Chapter meetings and functions.

Rules

1. All Brothers are required to faithfully attend all Chapter meetings and activities
2. A Brother can be excused with cause from a Chapter function only with good reason.
   1. Excuses may include the following

i.     Sickness

ii.     Family Emergency

iii.     A test during the function

iv.     Other valid professional activities outside of Delta Sigma Pi

These circumstances are not absolute or exhaustive.  All excuses are subject to the discretion of the Executive Committee.  If a Brother is going to be absent without cause, the Brother must contact the Secretary twenty-four hours prior to the event.  Certain excuse may require supplemental documentation.

Brother in Good Standing

In order to be a Brother in Good Standing and attend the Pledge Social at the end of the Semester, a Brother must meet all of the requirements listed below

1. Attend Mandatory Events

A Brother must attend ALL nights of recruitment.  Excuse from ONLY ONE of the nights will be granted at the discretion of the Executive Committee, given that the excuse is submitted to the Secretary PRIOR to the event in which a Brother will be absent.  The other mandatory events and requirements are ones which no absence will be permissible, without the approval of the Executive Committee.  Unexcused absences will result in a trial or fine.  If one of these events is missed with an accepted excuse, it can be made up with 2 additional hours of Community Service or extra $10 of Fundraising that do not count towards extra attendance points.  You can only make up one absence.

1. All 3 nights of Recruitment
2. Pledging Ceremony
3. Bid Night
4. Initiation

To be a brother in good standing you must:

1. Complete 2 hours of Community Service
2. Raise $40 of Fundraising
3.  Attain 320 Attendance Points

Points

1. Required Points
   1. Attend 10 Chapter meetings (10 points each)
   2. Attend 2 after-chapter pledge dinners (5 points each)
   3. Attend 3 recruitment events (15 points each)
   4. Attend Bid Night, Pledging Ceremony, and Initiation (40 points each)
   5. Attend professional events (10 points each, in addition to 10 points for Chapter)
   6. Pay Dues ON TIME (15 points if all at once, 5 points if paid at checkpoints)
2. Elective Points
   1. Attend more than 10 Chapter meetings (10 points each)
   2. Attend a social event (3 points each)
   3. Attend Formal (15 points) or Semi-formal (5 points)
   4. Raise $75 or more in Fundraising (5 points)
   5. Complete more than the mandatory 2 Community Service hours (5 points up to 25 points)
   6. Attend LEAD (25 points)
   7. Attend a Tailgate (3 points)
   8. Tutor at the Brother Tutoring sessions (4 points per session)
   9. Flyering before recruitment (4 points per hour)
   10. Speaking in a classroom about recruitment (5 points)
   11. Attend any Alumni Sponsored events (3 points each)
   12. Help out at the Professional Workshop (5 points)
